My Experience with PRP - UPSCALP

My Experience with PRP

Before I share my personal story with PRP treatments, here is a brief summary of what the treatment is:

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a treatment that doctors use to accelerate healing in various areas of the body. It may help restore hair growth.

Doctors typically use this treatment when hair loss results from androgenetic alopecia, a common condition that causes hair follicles to shrink. In males, this is called male pattern baldness.

So my experience with PRP was about 2 years ago when my hair was thinner than ever. I went to a clinic in Richmond Hill, ON, Canada (prptherapy.ca).

When the doctor examined my hair she asked me several questions regarding my hair condition - to which I explained that my blood work was normal, I do not suffer from any medical conditions that can cause hair loss or thinning, and my hormones are balanced.

The nurse then drew blood from a vein in my arm and placed the blood sample in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins the blood, separating its components. Once this process was over (which took about 15 minutes), the nurse extracted the platelets using a syringe and injected the platelets into targeted areas of the scalp.

The process of injecting was not too painful and took about 10 minutes.

The entire process took about 40 minutes. I was told that I need several sessions in order to see results, so I booked 3 more sessions a few months apart.

After receiving PRP treatment, I was not allowed to wash my hair for 24 hours but after that, I was able to return to my regular activities without any limitations.

So now the part that you are probably curious about... Did I notice any hair growth/hair thickening? The answer is NO. I spent over 6,000 CAD without seeing ANY changes. The before and after photos looked identical.
